Bali Teak Farms - www.baliteakfarms.com
BTF is a Bali based agricultural management company. BTF’s main activity is the planting and management, on its own account and for third parties, of bio dynamic micro-teak plantations in Bali. BTF specializes in planting and management of “micro plantations”. BTF is active as plantation manager and joint venture partner for landowners throughout Bali and Indonesia. Ideal micro climates and micro environments may be identified and secured throughout the island of Bali, Indonesia and in other countries as well (for example, BTF has assisted in the preparation of a feasibility study and business plan for teak farming in Fiji). In addition, BTF's medium term plans include blending teak farming with eco-tourism using the agri-tourism business model, developing common facilities, shared villas and private villas on its plantations, to allow tree owners, their guest and the general public, the possibility of vacation stays at the plantations. BTF promotes environmentally and culture conscious tourist development of Balinese rural areas, allowing the local Balinese communities the opportunity to continue living in traditional Balinese heritage lifestyle, providing much needed employment opportunities, as well as increase of local health and education standards.

Our purpose is to create awareness about the inconceivable suffering of many millions of humans (especially children that neither deserve nor can change their conditions) due to poor economic situations around the world, who it is that really suffers and what a huge difference a small effort on our part can make! We are an ‘all proceeds to charity’ band. Our debut album ‘Vow of Poverty’ will be aptly named, as we have signed the rights to all revenue raised from the sale of the CD to charity. The charity ‘VOW International Services Inc’ is dedicated to funding education and building schools in the third world.

Job Search and Business Development Program RESTORE THE BALANCE between a need for a livelihood and the need for a healthy environment. Break this destructive cycle of poverty and environmental degradation. - R.O.L.E. believes that abject poverty and environmental degradation are inextricably linked. Over fishing, beachfront development, ever increasing waste discharge and upstream pollutants have placed marine resources, including tropical coral reefs, lagoons, and local fisheries in sharp environmental decline. The income derived, the food sourced and the protein and nutrition attained from these resources by most coastal communities have dried up or become insufficient. - ECO-LEARNING CENTER PROGRAM: Because of steep population growth; transmigration from the cities; high unemployment; and failed business, farming and fishing methods; individuals and communities, in desperation, sometimes look for quick solutions to gain a livelihood. To earn an income they turn to environmentally destructive practices such as trading in endangered species; slash and burn farming practices in rainforest, woodlands and national parks; and salting (poisoning) of the rivers, creeks and waterways. These destructive practices, combined with shrinking available land for traditional farming of rice and cows, swell the number of people living below or near the poverty line, and destroys their environment. - Women Vocational Skills Program

Bonjour! Alliance Française in Bali is part of a network of more than 1 000 Alliances Françaises around the world. In each country we are regulated by local law, bound by a common purpose to the Paris Alliance, and ruled by a local committee. For over a century, the Alliance Française has been seeing through an ambitious project: spreading French language and culture well beyond the borders of France. Since 1989, Alliance Française in Denpasar, a non profit organisation, has been providing French classes for kids, teenagers and adults. As the only institution teaching French in Bali, we offer courses in our premises in Denpasar, but we can also provide classes in primary schools for instance, as part of an extra-curricular learning programme. We believe that primary school children can learn with fun. We aim to help children develop an ear for the language and offer an enjoyable experience in a stimulating learning environment. Our classes are small groups of a maximum of 10 children and our communicative approach ensures that every child is given ample opportunity to actually speak French. Schools and kinder gardens also like to visit our place as a representation of France, to give kids an insight of the language and the culture. Please feel free to drop by and ask for further details!

Stop Plastic! Peduli Alam means « Protect The Nature » in Indonesian. Our association is a non profit organisation and respects the Balinese culture. Our motivation at Peduli Alam is to help the villagers from the rural areas of Amed, east Bali, to be aware of the impact on nature and health that gives incineration or disposal of garbage to nature. Our work consists in the establishment a system of garbage collection: Construction of bins in durable materials in the villages, pick-up truck to the recycling center. Besides these actions, we do prevention and awareness campaigns in schools and villages, to encourage people to change their behaviour. Visit our website! By joining the association or by making a donation, you give us the ability to pursue our goals and extand our project to other areas. We have donation points in Seminiak, Ubud and Amed. THANK YOU!

The Starfish Language Centre, located in downtown Ubud,– provides  the opportunity for underprivileged Balinese children to study English from  volunteer native speakers for free. Learning English, Indonesian, Japanese, French, Spanish at Starfish Language Centre is a unique experience involving an interactive environment, with native speakers as teachers. Additionally, Starfish is currently the only school in Bali whose mission is to provide impoverished local Balinese access to language programs in order to enhance their job prospects. To subsidize the education of Balinese children,  Starfish arranges language classes for travelers, expatriates, as well as for local businesses (including BRI Bank, Yayasan Bumi Sehat- local midwives clinic, and Ubud Property-real estate company). Internationally,Starfish Language Centre attracts the support of many travelers willing to volunteer, and works strategically with students from the  Wharton Business School at theUniversity of Pennsylvania). With much foreign and domestic encouragement, Starfish aims to increase student enrollments by 50% as well as expand  program offerings  by 2011 to include computer and design programs. It all begins with awareness of the opportunities languages can bring to the Balinese community - giving back is the key to maintaining the vitality of the local culture and economy - and the Starfish Language Centre is here to help.
