Steiner Holistic Workshop in Bali

Alan Wagstaff, a Steiner teacher with 35 years of experience will come in October to Bali. Alan Wagstaff is a recognized teacher and speaker who will introduce parents and teachers to the teachings and ideas of Waldorf – Steiner teachings. Steiner Education is designed to be a health-giving education, nurturing and balancing the human faculties of thinking, feeling and will. It enhances, enriches and supports the developmental phases of childhood.

This is a 5 day course however each day is a stand alone entity. You may choose either 2, 3, 4 or 5 days. It draws upon a wide spectrum of holistic practices especially those from Waldorf (Steiner) education. The course emphasizes the early to middle childhood years (3½ - 12 years old), and gives strategies to be used both in school and at home. Each day 'walks the talk'. Holistic practices are experienced as well as studied. An empowering informative experience for those working or living with children.

Daily Program (8.45am - 3.30pm)

Each day begins with reflective verses and 5 minutes of singing for personal enjoyment

Day One

o Group Work : What makes a good learning experience for all children

o Integrating Movement in the Early Childhood years

o Interactive Lecture: The repercussions of Early Childhood Education

o Painting with young children

Day Two

o Group Work: Children's dreams and the culture of childhood

o Integrating Movement into our work with young children

o Interactive Lecture - new insights into emergent literacy

o Improvising music with young children

Day Three

o Group work :overcoming negative elements in our teaching and parenting

o Integrating movement into core skills lessons with 8 and 9 yr olds

o Interactive lecture: Twelve Generative Impulses :infusing new creativity into teaching across the schooling years

o Cumulative songs and Ballad writing

Day Four

o Group work: Working with other educators/parents to gain inspiration

o Integrating movement into core skills lessons: with 10 and 11 year olds

o Interactive lecture: Behavior management: a new scaffold (for parents and teachers)

o Painting with middle aged children

Day Five

o Group work: Sleep - the neglected element in learning

o Integrating movement into core skills lessons with 11 and 12 year olds

o Interactive Lecture - It's About Time - Creative Scheduling: How time management is crucial to holism and learning

· Musical Maths and Musical Round-up

Alan Wagstaff, a principal, teacher developer, and school adviser from New Zealand with 35 years of experience in holistic education. Alan is a recognized teacher and speaker whose aim is no less than to change the purpose of schooling. Parents and teachers will be shown how to refocus the schooling year so that children are affirmed and integrated. "Schooling can be about signaling that it is O.K. to be a child and about practicing being a complete person every day," said Mr. Wagstaff.
